Nudgee Beach
Nudgee Beach is a little beach, just north of Brisbane and off the freeway. The general area around the carpark and playgrounds is fairly bland and has an unimpressive "small town" feel to it, but the main attraction here is the boardwalk.
The boardwalk goes for about 2km and even on a cool day, you are out in the sun for a fair portion of it, so wear sun protection and carry water. There is a specific bird watching platform along the boardwalk too, so hardcore enthusiasts and amateurs alike can 'stake out' some birds.
What I adore about the boardwalk area is that you are close to a busy suburban area, but some parts of it make you feel like you're in a very remote area. I think this picture describes it better than I ever could:
I'm not the biggest fan of humid weather, but some parts of the boardwalk receive a direct open ocean breeze, which is just fantastic when you're walking. Most of the ocean breezes and surf close to Brisbane CBD are non existent, due to Moreton and Stradbroke Islands acting as a wind/surf break. This is why people go to the Gold Coast or Sunshine Coast for "real" surf.
Nudgee Beach is very busy on weekends and around school holidays, so a weekday visit will allow you to have a quieter walk.
There is also the Anne Beasley lookout, which is along the road to Nudgee Beach. It's a bit of a steep hill, then a staircase to the viewing platform, but you get a good look at the whole area:
